The human family is one of many components of nature. If humanity adopts lifestyles that violate and poison nature, it in turn violates and poisons itself. Conversely, if humanity nourishes and respects nature, it nourishes and respects itself.

We get what we give

This simple truth has been expressed time and time again yet our modern civilized society continues to program us to value money and material possessions as the ultimate measure of success. While there is nothing wrong with money in and of itself, many problems emerge when unchecked greed causes individuals or businesses to violate nature for the sake of financial gain.

Greed represents an imbalance between what one wants and what one needs. Outside of humanity, we never see nature take more than it needs. Nature works to maintain balance. Human physiology is the science of the natural function of the human body. The human body is programmed to maintain homeostasis in the presence of situations or stimuli that may disrupt its natural function. Homeostasis is another term for equilibrium or balance.

Greed has polluted our water, air, land, food and bodies

Genetically modified ingredients are present in many foods, creating inflammatory conditions in the body. The meat industry raises inhumanely treated, diseased animals for toxic slaughter. Millions of acres of the Amazon rainforest are destroyed annually to support the livestock industry. Oceans are littered with garbage and byproducts of oil spills/nuclear meltdowns. Airplanes spray artificial clouds in the sky, causing precipitation to contain elevated levels of various metals. Plastic products contain chemicals that disrupt the natural function of the endocrine system. Municipal water treatment facilities are unable to remove many of the pharmaceutical drugs that contaminate the water. The average citizen consumes more calories than he burns and is therefore overweight or obese. Many choose to work longer hours for more money rather than devote time to physical activity and/or meditation.

Living in a polluted environment combined with inactivity, overconsumption of unclean food, mental stress and immorality greatly increases the probability of developing disease. Presently, diseases are managed through the administration of pharmaceutical drugs. In the future, many people will not be able to afford to allow diseases of lifestyle to develop and then turn to pharmaceutical drugs as the remedy. The overall cost of health care is becoming too expensive. Many people will be forced into adopting a disease prevention lifestyle out of fear of dying a slow and painful death.

Growing populations will begin to seek education regarding ways to prevent disease. Many will learn how to interpret nutrition facts and comprehend the significance of food ingredients. Restaurants will be pressured to stop offering low quality, disease-promoting foods and to begin using high quality ingredients to prepare nutrient dense entrees. Restaurants will be judged by the flavor, health benefits and source of the food they offer. The importance of locally sourced ingredients will be realized. This emerging health conscious population will begin to understand the connection between disease and environmental hygiene. Businesses that pollute the environment for the sake of financial gain will simply not be supported until they begin to respect nature.

Humanity still has time to help restore balance in nature
